Brain surgery

Brain surgery is a medical procedure performed to treat problems in the brain caused by conditions such as tumors, blood clots, aneurysms, epilepsy, brain injuries, or abnormal brain structures. It involves accessing the brain through the skull (craniotomy) or using minimally invasive techniques to diagnose, remove, or repair damaged tissue, relieve pressure, or improve brain function.

Types of Brain Surgery

1. Craniotomy : A section of the skull is temporarily removed to access the brain for removing tumors, blood clots, or repairing aneurysms.

2. Minimally Invasive Brain Surgery : Uses smaller incisions and specialized tools to treat brain conditions with less trauma, faster recovery, and minimal scarring.

3. Endoscopic Brain Surgery : A thin tube with a camera (endoscope) is inserted through a small opening to treat conditions like pituitary tumors or fluid buildup.

4. Stereotactic Surgery : 3D imaging and computer guidance help accurately target deep brain lesions or tumors, often used for biopsies or radiosurgery.

5. Epilepsy Surgery : Removes or alters the brain area where seizures start when medication fails to control epilepsy.

6. Aneurysm Clipping or Coiling : Clipping involves placing a metal clip at the base of an aneurysm; coiling uses tiny coils to block blood flow and prevent rupture.

7. Brain Biopsy : A small tissue sample is taken from the brain to diagnose tumors, infections, or neurological conditions.
