Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

Brain surgery

Brain surgery is a medical procedure performed to treat problems in the brain caused by conditions such as tumors, blood clots, aneurysms, epilepsy, brain injuries, or abnormal brain structures. It involves accessing the brain through the skull (craniotomy) or using minimally invasive techniques to diagnose, remove, or repair damaged tissue, relieve pressure, or improve brain function.

Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS) is a modern surgical technique that uses small incisions and specialized instruments to treat spinal problems with less damage to muscles and tissues than traditional open surgery.

It’s commonly used for conditions like herniated discs, spinal stenosis, spinal instability, and fractures. Benefits of MISS include less pain, smaller scars, reduced blood loss, shorter hospital stays, and quicker recovery.

Types of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

1. Microdiscectomy: Removes part of a herniated disc pressing on a spinal nerve using a small incision and microscope for precision.

2. Minimally Invasive Laminectomy : Relieves spinal nerve pressure by removing part of the lamina (vertebra) through a small incision, often used for spinal stenosis.

3. Minimally Invasive Spinal Fusion : Fuses two or more vertebrae using small incisions, often guided by real-time imaging, to stabilize the spine.

4. Vertebroplasty & Kyphoplasty : Treats spinal fractures by injecting bone cement (vertebroplasty) or inserting a balloon before the cement (kyphoplasty) to restore height and relieve pain.

5.Endoscopic Spine Surgery :Uses a tiny camera (endoscope) inserted through a small incision to guide the surgeon in treating disc problems or nerve compression.

6.Foraminotomy :Widens the space where nerves exit the spine to relieve nerve compression, performed using specialized minimally invasive tools.
